Children's parties can be a fun break from the normal routine but they require planning, foresight and patience. Consider cleanup, cost, safety and space when deciding what to do in celebration in Mandurah, Western Australia. There are venues to rent, but for cheaper alternatives, look to parks, zoos and restaurants to host your bash. If you want to throw a children's party at home, several entertainment alternatives can come to you.
The Peel Zoo is a 10-minute drive from Mandurah on Sanctuary Drive in nearby Pinjarra. The zoo is different from most in that visitors have a chance to get up close and personal with more than 150 animals, as opposed to simply viewing them as they pass by. Kids can feed the kangaroos, hold snakes or pet foxes as the group wanders the grounds. The zoo has a picnic area and barbecue setup so you can stay for lunch, cake and presents. Call ahead and theme your party. Group bookings can be cheaper, too. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
If you're hosting an active group of kids for your child's birthday party, consider The Mandurah Sports Centre, located at 87 Dower St. They have a large enclosed area for children to run around, including bounce castles for the young ones and indoor sports fields for older kids. They'll also cater your party for you so you won't have to drag a feast to the venue. Fruit and meat platters and cakes and pies are available. The Sports Centre takes parties by reservation only.
If you'd like to host your child's party at your home but are looking to spice it up a bit, Kidz Cub Carz is an easy and affordable rental for your yard. The unit comes with four electric cars and an inflatable track that can sit right on the grass or pavement. The track is 15 meters by 11 meters, so be sure you have enough space before renting. For an outside venue that includes wet and wild fun, look to Just 4 Fun Aqua Park, situated on the western shore of Mandurah. The park has equipment for all ages, ranging from trampolines to slides. Kids can climb a rock wall or wrangle their way through an obstacle course. For group fun, there's water volleyball and a grassy area for picnicking and presents. This option is a little pricier than the others, but they do have group deals for birthdays.
