Once you arrive in downtown Chicago, there are buses, cabs, trains and even water taxis to take you around. Many of the tourist attractions are also close enough to each other that you can walk, so if you're driving to Chicago you may want to be able to park your car at the hotel and leave it. The cost of parking in Chicago can sometimes be nearly as much as the room itself. Some of the city’s larger hotels with amenities like swimming pools also offer parking packages.
Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown
The Hilton Garden Inn has an indoor pool and whirlpool, as well as a fitness center. It is located just two blocks from Michigan Avenue shopping and in the middle of a large selection of restaurants. The Weber Grill is also within the building, offering an extensive buffet breakfast each day. The hotel offers packages that include parking. For the best view of the Chicago skyline, try to get a corner room. All rooms have microwave, coffeemaker and refrigerator.
Trump International Hotel & Tower
The Trump International Hotel & Tower is a full-service hotel with a 24-hour concierge and doorman. Restaurant options include Sixteen, a fine dining restaurant featuring Chef Frank Brunacci. The spa is massive, with 53 treatment rooms, and the health club offers panoramic views of the city with ceiling-to-floor windows. Use of the health club and swimming pool may not be included with your parking package, so check details prior to booking.
Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile
As of 2010, the Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile offers the American Stimulus Package, which includes 50% off valet parking and complimentary access to the hotel’s fitness center and indoor pool. The package also gives you a credit on food and beverage. You can use that in the Zest Restaurant, at The Bar or at ENO, where flights of wine, cheese and chocolate are available. The hotel is located right on Michigan Avenue, where you will find miles of shopping options and can easily walk to additional attractions.
Considerations
Just the fact that parking is included in your package doesn’t mean it’s right at the hotel. Most hotels in Chicago do not have their own parking areas. Parking may be in a nearby garage. Sometimes Chicago parking is self-service, while other hotels offer valet service. Hotels may withdraw parking packages or limit the number that are available. Check with hotels for current pricing and package specifics. Also check with the hotel for swimming pool hours, which may be limited during non-peak times.
