Whether you're a car aficionado or you just want to get out of the house and enjoy the weather in a fun, relaxing environment, a car show may be just the place for you. If you are around Port Huron, Michigan then you're in luck, as there are several car shows in the area. All are annual family events and some have entertainment and food as well.

Blue Water Open Cruise and Car Show

For two days each year, Port Huron's downtown is transformed into a trip down memory lane as the Blue Water show hosts cars from the 1950s and 60s. The fun begins when car show entrants cruise through Port Huron strutting their stuff -- or strutting their struts. The next day, the classic cars are on display in all their glory. Bring the family and stroll past cars showing off their gleaming engines and old school craftsmanship. There is no admission fee, although there is a fee if you want to enter your car in the show. Entertainment typically includes performances by local musical groups.

Keith Peterson Memorial Car Show

In Fort Gratiot, Michigan, a short distance from Port Huron, check out the Keith Peterson Memorial Car Show. This show at the Birchwood Mall features not only classic cars, but also live music along with raffles for the public and prizes and trophies for the car entrants. Proceeds from the event benefit the Salvation Army and if you go, bring a can of food for the food drive. This is an annual charity bash in Fort Gratiot.

Mustang Cruise

The Mustang Owners Club of Southeastern Michigan also holds a cruise night in Port Huron. Owners of Mustangs are encouraged to attend as they cruise through town and end up at Northgate Ford to show off their beasts. The cruise leaves from Walmart and heads up I-94 to the Ford dealership. In 2010, over 30 mustangs showed up for this annual event! If you just like Mustangs, you can see them here, and you can check with the club's website for current club events.

Mount Clemens Cruise

If you like hot rods, and you don't mind a little drive, try the annual Mount Clemens Cruise. Mount Clemens is only 36 miles from Port Huron but this exciting annual event may well be worth the ride. This is a two part event, including a car show and a vintage car cruise through Main and Market streets. All proceeds from the event benefit several charities. Check their website for current scheduled dates.
