Car Shows Near Bunker Hill, Indiana

The small town of Bunker Hill has a fervent, drag racing history. This Miami County, Indiana, town is home to the Bunker Hill Dragstrip and the Bunker Hill Raceway. Six miles south of Bunker Hill, in Peru, Indiana, classic car show exhibits are available during the summer months.

Fast Cars

The Bunker Hill Dragstrip (, founded in 1956, showcases some of the fastest cars and motorcycles in the area. Shows feature speed and car stunts. The Bunker Hill Dragstrip hosts the area's annual Olson paint and body wheel stand contest. Crowds gather to watch professional drivers hoist cars up in the air on the rear wheels. Judges score drivers on balance and landing.

Charity Show

The car, truck and motorcycle show, Cruisin' for a Cure, in Peru, Indiana, supports the City of Hope cancer center ( For this cruise-in car show, cars are driven slowly in parade as audiences take in the customized bodywork on classic cars. On-site mobile clinics administer free blood tests for the presence of the prostate-specific cancer antigen.

Miami County Museum

The Cole Porter Classic Car, Truck and Bike Show is a collaboration between Miami County Museum ( curators and classic vehicle owners to pay homage to old relics. This spring car show features vehicles that generally hibernate in garages to avoid harsh winter weather. These classic cars feature vibrant paint jobs and owner restorations.

War Birds

Registration fees from the Grissom Air Museum's Warbird Car Show in Peru ( are donated to the museum's B-17 Restoration Project, the museum's educational project and the Wounded Warrior Project. Attendance incentives include a raffle and gift bags. In addition to the car display, the show features food and music. The first 100 car owners who display their cars are issued dash plaques.
