Budget Friendly Birthday Party Ideas in Minnesota

by Andrew Napoli

Throwing a momentous birthday party for a child, family member or friend is something that will live in that person's memory for years to come. Making the party memorable is the goal of all party hosts. Rather than having the party in someone's home, choose a superb location. In this way, the party instantly stands out as a major event in that person's life. In Minnesota, there are many possible locations to throw an event birthday party.

Minnesota Zoo

Children love the zoo. The Minnesota Zoo (mnzoo.org) hosts parties for children ages four to 12 on Saturdays and Sundays. For the price of the party, the zoo offers admission to the zoo, free parking, a private room, a zoo staff person and aide to facilitate the party, an educational activity, crafts, cupcakes, plates, napkins and gifts for all children under 12.

Minnesota Children's Museum

From the Mini Birthday Party to the Super Celebration Birthday Party, the Minnesota Children's Museum (mcm.org) hosts parties for nearly any budget on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Museum staff handles all of the set-up and clean-up for the party. For the Super Celebration, the museum offers a private party room and a staff member to lead activities. They also offer a variety of themes for various age groups from one to 10.

Valleyfair Amusement Park

The Valleyfair Amusement Park (valleyfair.com) birthday package includes a visit from a costumed Snoopy, cupcakes decorated by the party guests, a staff member to host the party, online party invitations, VIP reserved seating and a gift and button for the birthday child. Valleyfair offers a variety of food options including pizza, hot dogs and chicken strips. Prices vary depending on the number of guests.

Great River Water Park

The Great River Water Park (stpaul.gov) offers a variety of party options. They have two birthday party packages. The Swim, Cake and Ice Cream Package includes a decorated party room, water park admission, cake, ice cream, beverages, cups, plates, napkins and a birthday card which includes a free youth admission pass for future use. The Swim and Meal Deal Package includes all of this and pizza or hot dogs. Also the park itself -- in whole or part -- is available for private rental.
