One of New York City’s most populous boroughs, Brooklyn is popular for its art scene, distinct culture, famous architecture and attractions such as Coney Island, Brooklyn Botanical Garden and Prospect Park. While the list of area hotels fills the pages of a telephone directory, only a handful of Brooklyn accommodations have the right to be considered a luxury hotel.

Nu Hotel

Located in downtown Brooklyn near the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Nu Hotel places guests in close proximity to the brownstones of the Boerum Hill, the bakeries and shops of Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens’ old-fashioned Italian neighborhood. Reflecting the area’s unique art, the Nu Hotel provides guests with rooms that feature custom teak furnishings, bicycle storage, cork floors, environmentally friendly paints and organic bedding. The décor of the hotel is simple, modern and chic with a clean, white look, and soft brown and blue tones. Select rooms at the Nu Hotel offer bunk beds and hammocks, and all the rooms have a chalkboard wall in the bathroom and a business workstation. Additional amenities include valet parking, a complimentary continental breakfast and a complimentary evening cocktail hour with finger foods.

Hotel Le Jolie

Inspired by European hospitality and the charm of the big apple, the Hotel Le Jolie is located in the Williamsburg neighborhood, close to Manhattan’s Lower East Side, nightclubs and area restaurants. The sleek look of the Hotel Le Jolie embraces black and white décor with splashes of color used in complementary and unexpected places to give the hotel a modern, sophisticated feel. Accommodations at this hotel have European accents, complimentary Wi-Fi and an iPod docking station. Additional amenities include an ergonomic bed that uses an orthopedic mattress, allergen-free comforters, 30 complimentary movie channels, mini-refrigerator, luxury bath products and complimentary on-site parking.

Sheraton Brooklyn

Across the street to Brooklyn’s Metro Tech Center in Brooklyn Heights, the Sheraton in Brooklyn is a luxury, full-service hotel that caters to guests in the area for business and pleasure. Accommodations range from traditional rooms to one- or two-bedroom suites that offer iPod docking stations and Sweet Sleeper Beds. Decorated with shades of turquoise, honey, red, white and dark brown, the Sheraton aims to provide guests with simple yet comfortable accommodations including luxurious amenities that vary by room type. These amenities include lighted vanity mirrors, complimentary office supplies, Starbucks coffee, down-filled pillows, ergonomic work desk chair, views of the city, private terraces and dog beds. The Sheraton also provides its guests who prefer to work out in their own rooms with a “Gym-in-a-Bag,” which includes a workout routine, resistance tube, foam mat and massage rollers.

Hotel Le Bleu

Located in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood, the Hotel Le Bleu offers environmentally friendly rooms in a location that places guests close to area attractions, but far enough away from the borough’s hustle and bustle. The loft-like rooms in the luxury hotel feature blue and white decorations, and Kartell furnishings with hints of black, brown, orange and red throughout to add an interesting contrast. Hotel Le Bleu uses organic sheets and environmentally friendly woods in its construction, and offers views of the Statue of Liberty or the Brooklyn or Manhattan bridges. Guests of the Hotel Le Bleu also enjoy Bose surround systems, FLOS lighting products, 30 complimentary movie channels, complimentary on-site parking, a mini-refrigerator and Kashwére bathrobes.
