Birthday Party Venues in Roanoke, VA

by Scott Cornell

According to the event planning website Eventective.com, Roanoke, Virginia, features 44 venues where you could host a birthday party. The venues range in variety from zoos and roller skating rinks to teen event centers, wineries and parks. You'll find something for every birthday boy or girl, man or woman, no matter what age or preferences.

Children's Party

The Roanoke area is no stranger to conventional birthday party venues for kids such as Chuck E Cheese's (chuckecheese.com). But it also features more venues such as Adventure World Skate & Fun Center (adventureworldonline.com). This center offers birthday party packages that include access to a party room, pizza, soda and roller skate rental or laser tag play for up to 10 guests. Packages can also include tokens to the center's arcade zone for an extra fee. Other children's party venues that offer event space include Star City Skate Center (starcitysk8.com) and the Mill Mountain Zoo (mmzoo.org).

Teen Party

For kids who are too old for Chuck E Cheese's and seek a more teen-oriented venue for their big day, one option is Roanoke's Brambleton Recreation Center's Teen Center, which is run by Roanoke County Parks and Recreation (roanokecountyva.gov). The center features game activities such as pool, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and video games. Big screen TVs are also available for kids' viewing pleasure.

Adult Party

Just because you're all grown up doesn't mean you can't enjoy a birthday party too. Valhalla Vineyards (valhallawines.com), in the Blue Ridge Mountains, overlooks Roanoke, and can accommodate parties from 10 to 150 guests in its "Cellar Door" private room, which also features a fireplace, wine bar and stone patio. The venue is on a 21-acre vineyard that produces a variety of wines for guests to enjoy. Other adult venues with event space include the Taubman Museum of Art (taubmanmuseum.org) and the Roanoke Country Club (roanokecountryclub.org).

Outdoor Party

If your birthday falls in the spring, summer or fall, you might want to celebrate outdoors. One option is to reserve a private area in downtown Roanoke's Elmwood Park (pitp.org) as part of the "Party in the Park" 17-week concert series. Guests may reserve private covered areas in the park, where they can dine and drink while dancing to the live oldies, Motown, soul and disco tunes that are played every Thursday throughout the series. Party packages include free concert admission for guests.
