Broome, New York, in the eastern part of the state about 45 minutes southwest of Albany, is a small town (with a population of around 900), yet several party locations are available in the nearby area for individuals celebrating a birthday. Friends and family can get together to play golf, go horseback riding or slide into a pool of water.

    Stamford Golf Club

Founded in 1897, Stamford Golf Club (Taylor Road, Stamford; stamfordgolfclub.com), just 18 miles from Broome, features an 18-hole course. Groups can celebrate a birthday while golfing and have the option of enjoying food and beverage options in the clubhouse after a round. Both beginners and experts may play the course, and there is generally no wait time to tee off, even on the weekends and holidays. While specials are available throughout the week, prices are determined by day and time.

    Broken Spoke Boarding Stables

Hobart, just 22 miles from Broome, is home to Broken Spoke Boarding Stables (874 Narrow Notch Rd.; brokenspokestables.com). The stables not only board horses, but provide riding lessons for their owners as well as for non-horse-owners, who can take lessons on the stables' horses. Broken Spoke is available for birthday parties, which include horse rides, balloons, trail rides and picnics. All parties receive instruction from a certified horse trainer. To schedule a birthday party, make reservations through the website.

    Zoom Flume Water Park

Zoom Flume Water Park (20 Shady Glen Rd., East Durham; zoomflume.com), 15 miles from Broome, includes a number of water slides, a lagoon and a wave pool. As of publication, birthday party packages require at least 10 guests, with pricing $19 per guest 8 years old and above and $16 for children 3 to 7 years old. Birthday party packages include admission to the water park and access to a picnic area.

    Bull's Head Inn

Bull's Head Inn (105 Park Place, Cobleskill; bullsheadny.com), 23 miles from Broome, dates back to 1802. It features dining and drink options as well as music and entertainment opportunities.
