With a wide variety of party venues available, Memphis, Tennessee, is the city to be in if you're a 3-year-old with an up-and-coming birthday. Whether your child enjoys arts and craft projects, interacting with animals or engaging in high-energy physical activity, Memphis is sure to have a birthday party location that will appeal.

Interacting with Animals

Memphis is home to the well-known Memphis Zoo (memphiszoo.org), which contains a wide variety of animal species, such as primates, large cats, reptiles, birds, hippos and insects. Birthday parties at the zoo may include admission to the zoo, invitations, tableware, a T-shirt for the birthday child, food and beverages and face painting. If your child enjoys farm animals, Cedar Hill Farm (cedarhfarm.com) is another option for an animal-themed birthday venue. Parties include a ride on the miniature train, farm tour with opportunities to interact with the animals, pony rides, balloons and a T-shirt for the birthday child.

Arts and Crafts

If your 3-year-old enjoys arts and crafts projects, you'll find several options for birthday party venues around Memphis where the child will be able to create a project to bring home. Make a stuffed animal at the Build-A-Bear Workshop (buildabear.com), paint pottery at Paint A Piece (paintapiece.com) or Seize The Clay (seizetheclay.net), or create artwork on canvas at ARTjamN (artjamn.com). Depending on the venue, birthday party packages may include invitations and thank you cards, party favors, balloons, food and beverages, tableware and T-shirts.

Interactive Museum

The Children's Museum of Memphis (http://cmom.com) consists of a variety of activities and exhibits, including an earthquake simulator, child-sized market, climbing structures, waterworks and art. The museum provides birthday party packages, which include an hour's use of a private party room, games, face painting, tableware, ice cream and admission to the museum. For an additional fee, theme props and decorations, such as superhero, prince/princess, disco or pirate, can be added.

Physical Activities

If you are looking for a birthday party venue that will enable your 3-year-old to release some energy, a dance studio or inflatable play center may be what you are looking for. The Children's Ballet Theater (balletchildren.com) provides birthday parities in your choice of theme, including Cinderella, the Nutcracker, ballet fairy, Sleeping Beauty or Swan Lake. Children are taught a dance that will be performed for parents at the end of the party. Your child may prefer playing on the inflatable structures at Playland Party Zone (playlandpartyzone.com). Birthday parties here include balloons, games, use of the structures, tableware, food, beverages and game tokens.
