Beachfront Hotels in Wildwood, New Jersey

by Joe Fletcher , Demand Media

Wildwood is the central destination town on the Jersey Shore island known collectively as "the Wildwoods." Essentially the center of the action, Wildwood is home to the majority of the island's famous boardwalk, as well as some of the area's wide, admission-free beaches. A variety of lodging properties line the boardwalk in Wildwood.

    Identification

The Wildwoods are on a five-mile-long island toward the southernmost part of the Jersey Shore (just north of Cape May). In addition to Wildwood, you'll find Wildwood Crest to the south, North Wildwood to the north and Diamond Beach, south of Wildwood Crest. In Wildwood, the closest properties to the beach, many of which are motels, are concentrated along Ocean Avenue. Since the boardwalk stretches through the town of Wildwood, many of the town's oceanfront properties are located adjacent to the boardwalk, something that may not appeal to those looking for a quiet, relaxing stay and open, ocean views. The neighboring municipalities of North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest do have oceanfront hotels in quieter sections of the beach.

    Oceanic Hotel

The Oceanic Hotel is directly across from the beach, boardwalk and Wildwood Convention Center. While you'll be able to see the beach, you may not be inclined to go there; the Oceanic has an outdoor pool with what it calls "the only swim-up bar in Wildwood," as well as the indoor, ocean-view Barefoot Bar. The pool area has lunch service and entertainment. In terms of rooms, you'll find two-room efficiencies, double rooms and queen rooms, offering offering park and ocean views.

    Days Inn and Suites

Located in the same central area of Wildwood as the Oceanic, the Days Inn and Suites is an all-suites resort that offers two-bedroom suites and super-suites. Suites sleep up to six while super-suites sleep up to eight and have two bathrooms. Rooms are equipped with refrigerators, microwaves and two TVs. The property has two heated outdoor pools, two sundecks and barbecue grills.

    North Wildwood/Wildwood Crest Options

If you move north or south of Wildwood proper, you'll find oceanfront resorts in quieter neighborhoods where you won't have to deal with the crowds and amusements of the boardwalk. In Wildwood Crest, properties like the Aqua Beach Resort and Waters Edge Resort offer oceanfront accommodations. The former is just a block away from the activity-filled section of the boardwalk, while the latter is a block farther south. In North Wildwood, resort properties like the Acropolis Oceanfront Resort, located toward the northernmost part of the island offer oceanfront accommodations away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk.
