Although Atlantic City, New Jersey, is most well known for its gambling casinos and for hosting the Miss America contests, it has also been drawing visitors with its beautiful beaches and a boardwalk full of shops, attractions and restaurants since the 1800s. Guests to this area will be able to choose from a number of beachfront hotels, both high-end and affordable, some with casinos and some without.

Tropicana Casino & Resort, Atlantic City

With more than 2,100 rooms and suites -- many with ocean views -- the Tropicana Casino and Resort is the largest hotel not only in Atlantic City, but in New Jersey. The Tropicana has nightclubs, bars, a comedy club and numerous on-site restaurants, including such well-known ones as The Palm Restaurant, Carmine's, and P. F. Chang's. In addition to slot machines and gaming tables, the Tropicana also offers Asian gaming such as Pai Gow Tiles. Parking is an additional $5 for Diamond Club card holders and $10 a day for regular guests.

Days Inn Atlantic City Oceanfront - Boardwalk

This oceanfront Days Inn is an economical alternative to the fancier Atlantic City resorts. Although it does not have its own casino on site, it is next door to the Tropicana Casino & Resort. The rooms feature free Internet and some are graced with balconies. The hotel has a restaurant onsite open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parking for one car per room is free. You can request that a refrigerator be added to your room for an additional $10 per day charge.

Trump Plaza Hotel Casino

The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino on the boardwalk has 906 rooms and suites on 39 floors. This luxury hotel's rooms range in size from the deluxe unit's 480 square feet to the over 900 square feet of a penthouse suite, and all feature refrigerators and pillowtop mattresses. Among the resort's many restaurants are a Rainforest Cafe and a Max's Steakhouse. In addition to its large casino, the Trump Plaza has several bars and a theater. Parking is $5 per stay, but rates are subject to change.

Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort

This oceanfront Hilton has 800 rooms and suites that feature marble bathrooms and a refrigerator; many rooms also have views of the ocean and beach. This Hilton has a casino with slot machines, gaming tables and an Asian game room. In addition, it has a number of fine and casual dining restaurants, bars and an entertainment theater on site. Hilton guests can exercise at its fitness center or take a lap in the heated pool. Parking is $5 per stay.
