Atlanta Speedway Lodging

Throughout the year racing fans flock to the small town of Hampton, Georgia, outside of Atlanta to witness racing on one of NASCAR’s fastest tracks — Atlanta Motor Speedway. While in the area, fans typically wish to stick around for multiple days to enjoy qualifying and various races. There are convenient accommodations of all types within a short distance of the racetrack.


While there aren’t a lot of lodging options in the town of Hampton, the neighboring town of Griffin, Georgia, has a couple of available hotels for race fans throughout the season. The Comfort Inn and Suites, formerly known as the Iris Inn, is located just less than five miles from the Atlanta Motor Speedway. This hotel features either two queen or one king sized bed in each room and a 27-inch flat screen television for catching up on all those racing highlights from earlier in the day. Deluxe suites are also available and the hotel offers free continental breakfast and an exercise room. The Howard Johnson in Griffin, Georgia, is located six miles from Atlanta Motor Speedway and is walking distance to local restaurants and a movie theater. Downtown Atlanta and all of the associated attractions are less than a half hour drive from the HoJo. This hotel features an outdoor seasonal pool, exercise room and complimentary wireless Internet access.


For those looking for accommodations that cost a little less than the neighboring hotels, a motel is a comparable option. A motel in Griffin will keep you close to the racing action and save you a few bucks in the process. The Super 8 Motel in Griffin is less than eight miles from the Atlanta Motor Speedway. This location offers basic accommodations with free wireless Internet, premium cable and complimentary breakfast. Rooms have queen or king beds and include a refrigerator and coffee maker. Connecting rooms are available upon request. The motel is convenient to local restaurants and shopping and is less than a half-hour drive to downtown Atlanta.

Area Campgrounds

Recreational vehicle and tent campers often migrate to the area surrounding Atlanta Motor Speedway to enjoy the races and the outdoors simultaneously. Most camping in the speedway vicinity is actually on property, but for those who cannot get in before it fills up, there are some other camping options within 30 minutes of the track. Beaver Creek Campground is located in Jesup, Georgia around a half-hour drive from Atlanta Motor Speedway. This RV and tent campground has 21 RV sites and plenty of room set aside for tent campers. Nearby is High Falls State Park in Jackson, Georgia. This state park has tent and RV sites available for campers as well as lots of other amenities, including picnic areas golf, horseback riding trails and more. High Falls is approximately 30 miles from the racetrack.

Speedway Camping

Many people who attend races at Atlanta Motor Speedway take advantage of the on-site accommodation options offered up by the track. There are campsites for RV or tent camping within the racetrack’s infield. There are also reserved and non-reserved sites outside the speedway and campsites that are trackside that overlook the speedway.
