Residents and visitors of Pfafftown, a small North Carolina town in the Piedmont Triad region, have access to arts and crafts shows in the small towns and larger urban areas nearby. The festivals and fairs in northern North Carolina which host these shows provide venues for local artists and artisans to display their work, which represents a wide variety of art media and styles.
K'ville Indie Flea
The K'Ville Indie Flea in Kernersville, about 30 minutes west of Pfafftown, is an outdoor market that operates every Saturday during warm weather. Vendors at the market sell handmade and vintage items including clothing, jewelry, furniture, paper crafts, plants, soaps, lotions, cosmetics and accessories. The Flea takes place on Harmon Lane across from the Kernersville Triad.
Dog Daze Art Fest
The Dog Daze Art Fest in Lewisville, a 14-minute drive southwest of Pfafftown, takes place at Casanova's Coffee and Fudge on Shallowford Road. The First Saturday Art Fest presents the work of the Winston-Salem Craft Guild. The Board of Directors of the Guild accepts artisans and craftspeople into the Guild, and after acceptance Guild members have the option to exhibit and sell at the Dog Daze Art Fest. The Fest displays a variety of arts and crafts including jewelry, stained glass, pottery, turned wood items, floral arrangements, textile art, handmade dolls and photography.
Fun Fourth Festival
Greensboro, North Carolina's, annual Fourth of July festival, Fun Fourth, provides a dynamic Independence Day celebration for Guilford County and the Piedmont Triad. The festival, located 50 minutes east of Pfafftown, includes a street fair where artists and craftspeople exhibit their handwork at the Craftscene exhibition. These include paintings, graphics, sculptures, textiles, photography, ceramics and mixed media. The festival organizers request that all exhibited work be of original design and appropriate for family viewing. Craftscene organizers present prizes at the end of the festival for Best of Show, Best Guilford County Artisan and Best Presentation/Display.
Historic West End ARTS Festival
The Historic West End ARTS Festival displays original "artistry of nature." The exhibition takes place at the Grace Court in Winston-Salem, 23 minutes northwest of Pfafftown. The festival exhibitions include painting, woodwork textiles, jewelry, glass, metalwork and abstract and figurative sculpture. Artists who participate in the festival exhibition are eligible to win Festival art awards.
