London Stansted Airport, the capital’s third after Heathrow and Gatwick airports, is in the English county of Essex, one hour’s drive from central London. The express service from Stansted’s train station travels to central London’s Liverpool Street Station in around 45 minutes. London Stansted has a selection of hotels sited either in the airport complex itself or nearby. Like most airports, the hotels around Stansted mostly represent well-known international chains, but a few independent options are available.

Radisson Blu Hotel London Stansted Airport

Housed in a contemporary glass-fronted building, the Radisson Blu Hotel London Stansted Airport is a two-minute walk via covered passage from the airport terminal, and adjacent to the railway station. The hotel offers a variety of park-and-fly deals, which include secure valet parking. On-site dining options include Italian cuisine at Restaurant Filini or steaks and seafood at the New York Grill Bar. The hotel has an indoor pool, gym and sauna, and a spa offering beauty treatments.

Holiday Inn Express London Stansted Airport

Five minutes by shuttle bus from the airport terminal, the Holiday Inn Express London Stansted Airport has four floors and 254 bedrooms. The hotel offers combination accommodation and parking deals. The room rates include cooked breakfast at the on-site Great Room; the on-site restaurant serves an international menu including burgers, steaks and pizzas. Travelers with time to kill between flights can play a round at the Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club, but beware -- the club has a rather strict dress code.

Hilton London Stansted Airport

The Hilton London Stansted Airport provides a complimentary shuttle service to the airport, with a travel time of six minutes. The hotel is set in a modern low-rise building and has a gym with free- and fixed-weights, an indoor pool and a jetted tub. The on-site restaurant offers an international menu and features a terrace for outdoor summer dining. Sample the delights of a proper English pub, a 10-minute drive away at the Coach and Horses. This pub serves hand-pulled ales like London Pride and Adnams.

The Old Bell Hotel, Stansted

Set in the village of Stansted Mountfitchet, the Old Bell Hotel Stansted occupies a building with some original areas dating from the 15th century. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Stansted Airport. Stansted Mountfitchet Station, a few minutes’ drive from the hotel, is one stop from Stansted Airport’s train station. The hotel’s pub-style bar features original fireplaces and oak ceiling beams. Visit the nearby Stansted Toy Museum, which has a huge collection of toys and games from the Victorian era to the present, including a bicycle owned by Princess Diana in the 1970s.
