How to Address Invitations for a Baby Shower When a Couple Is Not Married

by Mel Frank

Many modern-day families now live together before getting married. When you have a baby shower, you want to properly address the invitations to display the names of both guests properly. This can be done easily by following a few etiquette rules.

Items you will need

  • Invitations
  • Envelopes
  • Stamps
Step 1

Choose the invitations you would like to use for your baby shower. Prepare them as you would like.

Step 2

Write your list of invitations. When the couple is not married, place the names of the couple on the envelope separately. Use alphabetical order, putting the two names on separate lines. An example would read: Jane Sanders John Smith Street Address City, State, Zip Code

Step 3

Place the appropriate stamp on the envelope and send. Stamps for invitations may cost more than your standard envelope stamp, so check with your local post office before choosing the stamps that will be used.
